  • Be Part of the History of Glencadam Distillery

As part of our proposed new Visitor Centre at the distillery, we are looking for lots of memorabilia from the history of Glencadam.

If you have any old pictures, any stories or any artefacts from the distillery, that may have been passed down through the family, we would love to hear from you.

There is a chance that they could form part of the permanent display in our planned Visitor Centre and be there for generations to see.

Please either send anything that you have into the distillery directly or contact pstewart@angusdundee.co.uk

  • Glencadam Distillery features on STV News

We were delighted to welcome the crew from STV News to the distillery today, to talk to our Brand Ambassador Iain about our plans for the new Visitor Centre.

The full coverage will be on STV News (Dundee and Aberdeenshire) from 6pm today, or can be watched on the STV Player.

  • New Visitor Centre planned for Glencadam

Plans have just been submitted to Angus Council to build a brand new visitor centre at the distillery.

The proposal includes plans to develop existing buildings to incorporate a unique tour, whisky tasting area, tea room and shop, all designed to celebrate the history and heritage of Glencadam, which is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland.

The proposed designs will retain the original sandstone facade of the existing buildings, together with other integral features that date back almost 200 years, and blend this with some innovative new architecture.

There will also be newly designed offices, meeting rooms and tasting lab for the distillery team, all located in the original floor maltings, which are no longer in operation.

Distillery Manager Doug Fitchett says: “We are delighted to be a part of this development of the distillery, which will give our visitors from the UK and around the world the chance to really experience what makes Glencadam unique. There is so much history here and great stories to tell, and some excellent whiskies to try of course!”

“The development will also be a great boost for the area, and I think we’ll see a big increase in tourists and local people coming into Brechin, to tour the distillery and visit our new shop and tea room.”

If plans are approved then building would start in 2019 with an estimated completion date in 2020.

For more information on the development please contact pstewart@angusdundee.co.uk

  • The Christmas Lights are on!

At Glencadam Distillery our Christmas Tree is up and all the lights are on and looking incredible.

The whole team has worked incredibly hard on the decorations this year, which took months to prepare, all co-ordinated by our enthusiastic Office Supervisor Wendy.

Our new tree is 25ft high and was specially made by the clever distillery team from old cask staves. It's like a work of art in its own right. We have also added a sleigh and some reindeer, which will be especially popular with children.

We get so many people coming to see our lights that this year we have decided to accept donations from visitors, and all money raised will go to Brechin Bravo, which is a wonderful local charity.

    Ho Ho Ho!
